  Capital Punishment MTB Enduro 2012
Hi Brian

Without wanting to jinx the weather - it has been beautiful here in Canberra the last couple of weeks. The ground is drying nicely and we have been out working on the tracks getting them ready for 28 April. Rumour was that due to the wet summer there were a lot of people under-trainined so with the benefit of the extra weeks of training we are now expecting some fast times!  Speaking of fast times - we have Jenny fay and Dylan Cooper, our 2011 winners back to defend their title.  Dylan in particular however, will have his work cut out for him with the likes of Adrian Jackson (MTB orienteering World Champion), Craig Gordon (World 24 hr Champion) and Peter Hatton (2nd place in last years event) coming to take him on.

Wave Starts
****** Please note that you must start in the wave start that you have nominated on your entry.  If you do not start in your nominated wave you will come out on the results as disqualified.  Whilst this can be manually adjusted later it will cause difficulties.  Please check you have your wave start and your other personal information correct.  If you need to change this you must log in and do so by 7pm Tuesday 17 April.

Competitor Brief
With the new additions to the course (see below) the competitor brief will change slightly.  The updated edition will be available on the website by this Wednesday.

The Course
The course is starting to shape up superbly.  We have been out working in Majura Pines and this is looking good.  East Kowen is looking terrific and we will now be able to incorporate those great Mont24 hour tracks.  The new Kings Highway will open next Thursday which means it is pretty certain that we can include an excellent 6km loop in Sparrow Hill.  For the 100km riders the first 20km in particular is going to be full of really sweet smooth easy single track.  And remember, this year we have a straight route through the Defence land rather the those horrible paddocks around the edge of the airport! Stromlo has been a bit rough after all the rain but the guys out there are working away and we hope to have skyline in super nick for a 5km downhill to the finish.

The bridge across the Molonglo is still out of action but clearing should start this week.

So with all of this we are just stoked how the course is looking now and can't wait for you all to be out there.  Get ready for some Heaven on a bike!

Feed Stations
Due to the new inclusion of Sparrow Hill the feed station distances have changed slightly:
For the 100km:Feed 1 at 38km, Feed 2 (Majura Vineyard) at 58km and Feed 3 at 78km
For the 50km: Feed 1 at 30km.

The Majura Vineyard will be open for spectators.  There will be a coffee van there near the action and after you might want to go and check out some of the wines before heading to the finish.

Registration and Presentation
Unfortunately, the Crowne Plaza is booked up with football teams on the new event date so we have had to make a few changes to registration and presentation as detailed below.
Registration is on Friday 27 April and will now be held at CIT (Canberra Institute of Technology) Reid Campus within the Hall in Block E. There is plenty of parking in the car park opposite on Constitution Ave.

Registration will be by race number.  You can check your race number and see who else is racing here.

At registration you will check your details including mobile phone you will carry during the event, pick up your race number and timing chip and hand in your signed indemnity form.  Make sure you refresh the indemnity form link so you have the updated one with the date of 28 April 2012.  If you have pre-ordered jerseys, vests or knick these will be available for collection.  There will also be some for sale - first in best dressed.  And best dressed you will be - they look fabulous - much better live then the picture!

If you have someone else registering for you they need to bring an indemnity form signed by you.

Late registration is only at the Crowne Plaza on Saturday morning between 5am and 6am.  Registration is NOT available at the race starts.

Race Plates
You will receive a race number plate which is to be attached to the front of your bike.  The timing chip is attached to the back of the race number.  Make sure that you zip tie your number tightly and securely. If you are carrying your bike on the top of your car to the race start please take your race number with you and attach it once you get to the start.  We had a number of people last year whose numbers blew off on the way to the start.

Due to the other commitments by the Crowne Plaza on the new date of 28 April there will be no evening after party this year.  There will however be a band, food, drinks and presentation and prizes at the finish at Stromlo Forest Park after the bulk have finished at 3pm. There are great prizes from Adidas Eyewear, Vaude, Maxxis, Limar, GT, Squirt and Crowne Plaza.  There are 2 GT Sensor 1 bikes valued at $3,900. These will be given to the person in the 50km and 100km with time closest to the average overall time as at 2pm.
