Saturday, 01 March 2014

The Venue
The Historic Denniston Plateau, approx 24.6 km north of Westport. Turn off State Highway at Waimangaroa and follow signs to Denniston. Other attractions at Denniston include the world famous interactive Underground Mine Experience, Denniston Museum, Denniston Incline viewing platform, Bridal Track walk and numerous mountain biking and walking opportunities on the plateau, including the Coalbrookdale Walk.

The Route
The course is a 3 hour lap race on single track and 4WD track formed from old mining exploration tracks on the Denniston Plateau. The track has some technical sections, so a moderate level of skill and fitness is required. There will be a couple of small stream crossings, stunning vistas and mining relics on your route to and from the start/finish area.
Don’t be fooled by the short laps—the course is fast, flowing and full of fun with a capital ‘F’.

The Prizes
$500 cash is up for grabs for the Team or Individual that completes the most laps. 1st place in each category gets a performance prize, plus there are heaps of really cool spot prizes up for grabs.

Race Day Information
The Race HQ, registration area, car parking, Teams Race Transition, first aid area and toilets are all on The Sullivans Mine Road—follow the signs from the Denniston Museum. This section of road will be closed to vehicles during the race, so please ensure that you are on-site well before 9 am, when the road closes. Race briefing will be at 9.40am, with a race start at 10am. The teams transition area will be marked to the side of the race line; please give other riders plenty of room for racing. Prizegiving will be at 1.45pm.
