This event will be held at Cable Bay to comemorate the 146th anniversary of the saving of the crew of the Delaware by Huria Matenga in 1863.
The event will consist of: First a swim parallel to the causeway or a kayak on the estuary or a run along the causeway into Pepin Island Station.
Second a cycle towards Nelson to reach Maori Pa Road. Short events turn and return to Cable Bay. Long events turn Left and follow Maori Pa Rd to the end, turn around and return to Cable Bay Road. Turn Left and continue to a turnaround point 1.3km from the State Highway. Return to Cable Bay.
Third a run along the Causeway and into Pepin Island Station to turn and take the driveway above Cable Bay to a turnaround. Return on same route across causeway. Short events one lap, long events two laps.
Race Day Timeline
7-7.30am Registration and rack bikes
7.45am: Race briefing
8.00am: Start
Following the race, a barbecue will be held, free to competitors. There will also be a small prizegiving (spot prizes only)
Entry information
A family discount applies, with a maximum $30 per family. To obtain this discount, please enter as normal. Choose Pay at Event (rather than Credit Card) and email the race organiser with your family members listed. A credit will be put through showing the $30 family rate to pay on race day.
Note also that to encourage online entries, race day entries will attract a $10 penalty. If you're uncertain over whether to compete and wish to avoid the late entry penalty, please enter online, choosing the Pay at Event option. Should you not compete, no charge will be made.
