This event will be held over a course based on a transition area on the foreshore of Lake Rotoiti at Kerr Bay.
Race Day Timeline
7.00-8.00am: Registration and rack bikes
8.10am: Race briefing
8.30am: Start
Following the race, a barbecue will be held, free to competitors. There will also be a small prizegiving (spot prizes only)

Course
The swim is over three laps of a 500m triangular course. The Sprint event is over a lap and a half. Wetsuits are compulsory. Lake Rotoiti can be cold.
The bike course climbs to the village of St Arnaud, turn left and head several kilometres south towards Murchison. After the turnaround, back through St Arnaud to a second turning point close to the Rainbow skifield road. The final leg takes competitors back to St Arnaud. A second lap is required for the 40km distance, while competitors in the sprint events head down to the lakeshore transition.
The run course climbs the hill towards St Arnaud, taking in a short dogleg by the DOC headquarters, then on through St Arnaud to Black Valley Rd, turn left and through the trees back down to the lakeshore. The lap is 2.5km and needs to be completed twice for the sprint races, four times for other competitors
Entry information
There is an age restriction for this race. All competitors must be 14 or over on race day.
Entrants under 18 take part at parent’s discretion. Discounts apply to club members (20%) and school students (50%). To join the club online, click here.  A family discount applies to this event, with a maximum $70 entry fee per family. To obtain this discount, please enter as normal. Choose Pay at Event (rather than Credit Card) and email the race organiser with your family members listed. A credit will be put through showing the $70 family rate to pay on race day.
Note also that to encourage online entries, race day entries will attract a $10 penalty and no club discounts apply. If you're uncertain over whether to compete and wish to avoid the late entry penalty, please enter online, choosing the Pay at Event option. Should you not compete, no charge will be made.

Didymo

DOC regulations require kayaks, sprayskirts and wetsuits to be treated for didymo. Please allow time when checking in for this process, which will leave your wetsuit wet.


Race rules/code of conduct
Current Triathlon NZ competition rules apply to all participants in these events. For full Tri NZ rules, click here.

Rules include approved helmets must be worn (ANSI, SNELL or NZSS); bare torsos not allowed in cycle or run legs; race number provided must be worn or shown; participants responsible for ensuring their cycles are in a safe rideable condition.

The course is not closed to traffic. It is the participants’ responsibility to keep left and ride single file unless passing.

Entrants under 18 take part at parent’s discretion.

It is the participants’ responsibility to make themselves aware of the race rules; the race courses; to attend the compulsory race briefing and to participate in a safe and responsible manner.
